online advertising, search engine, cloud computing, software and hardware. The world’s most popular operating system of
the smartphones “Android” is owned by this company. The impressive services of
google like Gmail, Youtube, Google search making it one of the biggest internet
companies in the world.
Over the
past few years, companies like Amazon, Sonos, Google , Microsoft are coming up with a smart, connected
wireless audio devices. Apple’s smart
speakers are on the way.
So far, most
of the early release of the smart speakers are less expensive. The usage of
that would be more than listening music, accessing virtual assistant. Sonos has made a mark on the brand on wireless
speaker system that provide high quality audio ends.
Just say “OK
GOOGLE” in quite a clear atmosphere, things happen, as the MAX is great at listening.
It is made for the people who demand bigger sound with great quality systems.
Google
Home Max comes with the price of $399. It is the biggest and the most expensive
wireless smart speaker system so far. Though it has all the features similar to
the Home an Home Mini, it produces a great sound quality.
It weighs
almost 5.4 kg. One thing that Google Home Max misses is that, there is no provision
for mounting in order to place it in the floor stands or wall mounts which are
commonly found in all sort of speakers. There is no way to stick or attach the
speaker to the surface.
It
consists of 4 drivers – two 4.5 inch woofers, two 0.7 inch tweeters and 6 class
D amplifiers. There are 6 far-field microphones for voice commands, a switch to
disable the microphones, a USB Type-C
port that can be used with an Ethernet adapter for wired networking and a 3.5mm
input jack for other audio sources.
Google
Home Max comes in two colors – chalk or charcoal. Thw front end of the speaker
is covered in a grey cloth while the back part of the system is a smooth, matte
plastic.
In
contribution to its size, 13 inches wide by 7.5 inches high and 6 inches deep. The
magnetic silicone base keeps the speaker stable in either orientations.
The top
part of the speaker is incorporated with touch input controls – Swipe left /
right volume, tap to play or pause. The volume can be controlled with voice
commands or mobile devices. It is enabled with connectivity features like
Bluetooth, Google’s very own Chromecast built-in.
The touch pad is made on the rubber pad
that sits
under the speaker to segregate the vibrations from the surface that is put on.
The pad is attached to the Google Home Max through the magnets and works
accordingly in a horizontal or vertical orientations.
In
horizontal mode, the MAX provides a stereo sound, but on turning it in vertical
mode, it switches to a mono output. Two Home Max speakers can be paired in a stereo configuration, as well,
and both horizontal and vertical orientations work in this mode.
The MAX
has a great quality and produces a loud enough sound. It is not designed to
reproduce a flat sound. It sounds good for all kinds of music from soft
acoustic to speed metals. It also performs well for podcasts and other vocal
dominant tracks.
In a dual-speaker stereo configuration,
the Max is even louder and more impressive. Google recommends to place the speakers
about ten feet apart for the best stereo separation. Two MAX
speakers are best than one in a huge space environment.
Google
Home app let the MAX to group together with other Cast-enabled speakers for multi-room.
Google Home Max is quite similar to
Sonos Play 5. Google Home Max differs by featuring an ability to automatically tune
itself to the room it is placed in and the music being currently played using its on-board microphones.
