PM Modi launched all-in-one UMANG mobile app at the fifth edition of Global Conference on Cyber Space

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new mobile application “UMANG” on thursday. It allows the citizens of India to access e-Governance services on a single platform.

The PM inaugurated at the fifth edition of Global Conference on Cyber Space (GCCS) and registered the strong fact that the information sharing and coordination among nations to prevent cyber crimes.

He also explained the differences between global and open systems, and how to overcome the nation-specific legal requirements.

“Open and accessible Internet often leads to vulnerabilities like cyber attacks. A major focus area should be training of well-equipped professionals to counter cyber threats,” he said.

What is UMANG application ?

UMANG - Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance. This application is developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD). It is expected to provide access to over 100+ services in central, state, local bodies and various government organisations.

These services will be maintained for by many different departments of the Union and State Governments in the backend.

Services in UMANG application

The Digital India services of UMANG app includes Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and PayGov.  In addition to that, the app provides citizens with all the major government services provided through app, web, SMS, and IVR . 

The services live on the app include Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) among others. Parents and students can view the exam results and relocate the centers using the CBSE service.

At present, Umang app provides services across 12 categories which include -- agriculture, education, employment and skills, energy, finance, health, housing, police, public grievance, revenue, transport, and utility.

It includes 10 indian languages in addition to Hindi and English.

Unlike other device, UMANG app supports aadhar and other authentications using the phone number and location and provides access to all the goverment services.

How to download the UMANG application ?

This service is available on Android, iOS and Windows based mobile devices.  Download UMANG app from Google playstore for Android, Appstore for Apple, and Windows store for windows.

 UMANG app is available on multiple platforms such as  Smartphone , Desktop and Tablets. It has a rich multimedia interface with a focus on maximizing usability and  enriching user experience. It also has a dedicated Customer support for user convenience from 8 am to 8 pm for all days of the week. 

Incase if you don’t find the application in the playstore, you can also give a missed call to 97183-97183 or SMS to get the app download link on your number as a text message.

How to register ?

Register and start using the UMANG app. The registration process begins with a OTP and a couple of security questions. Once the registration is comple, set MPIN to access the app.

UMANG app also has a social media integration that allows us to facebook, twitter and google.

UMANG app would be Modi’s crucial step for making India completely digital in the forthcoming years. As Modi insisting everyone to shift from digital transcation and not  to depend on cash , Umang app will also be one such initiative to promote Modi's Digital India program.
